Personal and interpersonal soft skills support class management and engagement, improve test scores, and help students obtain employment and succeed in a job. In general, these soft skills support success in life. In this workshop, a step-by-step approach will be used to explore a model for developing soft skills in a wide range of basic education settings. We will discuss selecting soft skills objectives for your program, methods for teaching and modeling these skills, assessment and evaluation, and managing and documenting learner progress.
This model utilizes Pace’s Life Skills 25, a soft skills curriculum designed for adaptability. There are 25 topics in three areas of Life Skills: Self-Development, Achieving Personal Goals, and Interpersonal Skills, which can provide a structured but flexible system for soft skills development or can be customized easily as a supplement to any program.
